Smoking ban and mass media were never friends, and their battles never ended. This media battle is contained to two area newspapers and propaganda posted outside of the future headquarters. The battle didn’t finish because the main aim of the future coalition is to eliminate the smoking. Even though the Coalition feels that it would be a beneficial thing to take away the rights of their fellow Americans.

The AHEAD Coalition can’t understand how a smoking ban would be beneficial to the community of Crawfordsville, as well as Montgomery County since Crawfordsville is really the most happening place in the county.

The AHEAD persons always use the same old arguments that second hand smoke is bad for non-smokers’ health, smoking is bad for smokers’ health, everyone has the right to smoke free air, the tobacco companies are liars, and so on. But why quit with a smoking ban?

Not only smoking is harmful for people’s health but also lots of things, such as: McDonalds which is really unhealthy for everyone, Burger King, and many others. It's time that Crawfordsville had a fast-food ban. Of course it would benefit the health of community.

The real killers are big traffics and large vehicles, such as: tractors, trucks, garbage trucks, snow ploughs. These vehicles emit harmful fumes which can be the main cause for lung cancer, tuberculosis, asthma and other diseases. That’s why it’s time to begin a campaign which will ban large vehicles. Certainly the vehicles are necessary for business and for municipal programs, but human health is far more important.

Also another harmful thing is alcohol. According to a lot of studies it killed brain cells, it adds a few pounds, it is addictive, and drunk drivers kill others all the time. Then why isn't alcohol ban? Anti-smoking coalitions would shut down an innumerable of alcohol stores, bars, which will lead to a decline in it sales. And in this way people would be healthier.

Of course these all bans which should be ban are bogus. That’s why no one is going to ban fast-food restaurants, and no one is going to prohibit large vehicles, because this is America, where people can’t leave without this kind of food or cars.

This is the country that gives to its people liberty for almost anything. Indeed, the first cash crop of America was tobacco, introduced by the Native Americans. There are lots of things that will kill people more certainly than second hand smoke or even direct inhalation from a cigarette. Americans take their lives into their hands every day in much more dangerous methods than that of lighting up a cigar.

A smoking ban is not good for anybody. A smoking ban would mean a severe decrease in Crawfordsville's economy and more job losses.
